Understanding Shadow Work

Welcome to Understanding Shadow Work, this is a great place to start your self reflective healing journey, wether you have only just come across the term Shadow Work and want to gain perspective on what it means, or, if you already have some knowledge but want more information.
I have endeavoured to include all the information that I would have found helpful, when I started my journey some 15 years ago. Here you will hopefully find the answers to your questions, like what even is shadow work? Why is it important to undertake a self reflective journey? What are the benefits of shadow work? When you’ve got to grips with all of that there is also a breakdown of Where to start your own journey.
I am passionate about sharing this knowledge and do not believe in gatekeeping, that’s why the information is provided for free, all I ask is that if you should use my work that you respect me and cite me appropriately.
We all have shadow work to do, and unfortunately it does not go away if you ignore it, even if you drink a whole bottle of wine or run 5 miles. Your woundings will wait for the time that you are ready to prioritise your own self reflective healing journey. Your shadow self will be waiting for you to desire integration and stepping into your power. Your wounded inner child waits for you to release them from their secret burdens. Your Ancestors wait for you to heal their lineage.
I hope that after reading the sections in this resource you will understand that shadow work is the process of taking radical self responsibility for your liberation. Shadow work is the journey where you learn that you can leave the cage that you find yourself in, because you hold the key.
Start the journey when you’re ready, but it might as well be now.
